East Hills/21 Windows

Enjoying the wonderful, perfect summer weather this week. Along with my friend Ann we hit Marie Catrib's for lunch and bummed
around the East Hills area of G.R. The day prior they had an art window competition in several of the businesses so we enjoyed the
blue skies, 70 temp, and many colorful windows along the few block area. Great day out!

Oldie but Goodie

Why don't I remember these guys playing together?  Am I the only one?
A friend of mine recently posted this video on facebook and when I
watched it I was amazed I didn't ever remember this.  Looking further
on youtube they did a number of sets with a number of artists from
that era.  Whoa!  Way cool though!  If it doesn't play go to youtube and
put in title below.  Worth the watch..........-

New Eyes

Though I'm the only one excited about receiving a new pair of glasses it doesn't diminish my enthusiasm.  It's been 3 years and my glasses are on/off my face alot as I don't need them to read and they are pretty scratched up.  I am thankful to the Chippewa Indians for providing my latest pair completely gratis as I am now an elder.
All I have to say is "miigwech".......thank you in
Chippewa!

One Last Time

Last post on my visit home to Escanaba. Just a few quiet images of it.
You can walk to just about anywhere you want to go in town. It is surrounded
on three sides by Lake Michigan. They have "rummage" sales, not garage sales.
Friday nite fish frys are still a staple. There are still band concerts in the
park every week. People still make eye contact with you on the street and acknowledge you. You can buy fresh whitefish and walleye in the locally owned
"super" markets. Still have the best "subs" and pasty's (passtees) and the Coke's taste
different than anywhere else. And best of all, in this town I never feel alone.

The alley's of my childhood

Growing up in a small town had it's own unique experiences for me. One I recall was playing in the alleys around our home. Not alot of places even have alleys that I've seen since. But we spent hours playing kick the cans and garbage picking in these alleys. This past week back home I would walk each day and when I'd pass the alley on each block it was sort of nostalgic...............

Bro's

Rich, Jim and Randy........these are my brothers. I love each and every one of them for the individuals they are. It's a shared life that one with your siblings. Probably know you better than anyone besides your spouse and in many cases understand you better. They, after all, know from whence you came. I enjoy my visits home to see them and am always sad to leave and not be part of their everyday life. But I'll take what time I do get and look forward to the next.

Images of Esky

I tuck my camera in my pocket when I take my morning walk here in Escanaba cause you never know what will catch your eye. The local laundrymat is a trusting sorta place and the painted sides of buildings are always colorful and cheerful. Enjoying a quieter pace.

Trippin in the 50's

Anyone from G.R. probably knows and has driven past this place.
For me it takes me back to my early years. I wasn't here then
but it just looks like something from that era......simpler times.
I hope it stays there so when I drive down Plainfield I can
remember.
