16 inches

From the sunroom window this morning looking out to the side of our place.  We got about 16 inches here as near as I could tell with my yardstick.  By the end of the day the sun was shining and it was the end of
our blizzard of 2011.

Window Shopping

Yesterday I spent the day browsing at a few of my favorite haunts in Grand Rapids with a friend.  Here are a few of the things I deemed picture worthy.  The Asian wall piece would make quite a statement piece in the right setting, I thought, and a bargain at $95.  The doll figures were pretty fun and interesting and a great display overall.  The antlered sconce (one of a pair of them, well that was just "whoa" different and something that would certainly require the right spot too.  All in all, pretty fun and a delight to the eyes for sure.

Progress on the "Hunk of Walnut"

Its been cut.  Its been sanded.  Its been stained.
Its now in the last steps of urethaning!  Our mantle
for the downstairs fireplace will then face the final
hurdle of being put up.  Thank goodness I don't
have to do that part  : ).

Eureka

Not that many people would be excited about scoring a pile of
advertising catalogs like this. For me it's akin to winning a prize.
Our local library has a book sale a few times a year which I never
miss. Not only do I read alot, I also buy a load of magazines that I
cut up for collaging and use on my art projects of the moment.
This pile was a major score for me and I will have a great time just
going through them. Each one is about 250 pages. 50 cents each.
Cheap entertainment if you ask me not to mention the hours of
fun I'll have reinventing it.

Short Week :(

I'm totally bummed that I have to miss 2 days with my favorite person in the whole wide world. We're leaving early in order to get Matt back home due to airport backups here in the Philly area this week. I totally love and adore my grandson and treasure each minute spent with him. 48 hrs less than I expected is not acceptable for either one of us. I know that he will miss me too. When we are together it is special time for both of us and we can't really get enough of each other. Some things are just out of our control though and we have to go with it..............we don't have to like it though!

Socked In in Jersey

Yup, glad we weren't flying or driving back right now from Xmas in the
east! They have a few days to uncover before we leave. Makes me glad
I live in Michigan where we are always ready for it and it doesn't really
seem like a big deal to get 8-12 inches.

It's that time of year again........

It's the time of year that Lee and I join Jane in her labor intensive effort of making sauerkaut balls. We're getting better at it each year so I think Jane is going to "keep" us. Done til next December!
