BBall

Anyone who really knows me knows that one of things I am most passionate about is Michigan State Spartan Basketball. I love it pure and simple. I enjoy watching basketball because I understand it and it is a "fast" game for me. I loved it in high school but with everything else going on in my life it went by the wayside for a few years.

When I lived in East Lansing I followed the Spartans.....went to a few games even. When Lindsay started at State I had a renewed interest in "our" team and have been steadfast ever since. So it's been very much a part of my life for some 12 years now! I feel like the players are my second family and I adore Izzo!

The past few years I've been able to immerse myself

in the NCAA tournament with my dear friends the Rices at their place in Key Largo. This year I plan on seeing the first weekend of the tournament w/them again. Then on to spend time with my grandson. In the weeks that lead up to March Madness its GO GREEN, GO WHITE!!!!!!!

One thing to like about Obama

I've decided that there is one thing I can immediately like about our new president. He's a baller! While I have never been a democrat nor probably ever will be............I have always liked basketball.
And in this respect I find some common ground with Barack.
He played basketball in high school and was known as Barry the bomber and still plays pick up basketball and follows the NCAA action as do I.
So folks that much I will give him. His sport of choice is also mine.

Captain James F. Anzalone

My father's ID from his days in the service in WWII. When he enlisted he was put through IQ tests and he scored so high they sent him directly into officers training. He told me he didn't tell his parents for fear he'd fail but when he was through w/training and went home on leave before shipping out he told them. He walked into his father's barbershop w/officers bars and said his father was so proud of him as he himself was an immigrant and to have his son an officer was quite something in his eyes. Dad didn't often talk about his days in the service but did more so at the end of his life. He received several medals including the Bronze Star for freeing soldiers from prison camp in Germany and a Purple Heart for injuries received. He came out of the service a Captain which is no small feat. I am very proud of my Dad. He was a first generation born in this country on his father's side and was always a strong example in my life of all that is good.

the Twins

I think all of us wonder what it might be like to have an identical twin unless you are one. Of course they are each individuals first and foremost, but they share so many traits that are so alike. I can remember when I first met Mark and found out he had a twin I was curious as to how I would react to him (Mike). At the time they were 20 yrs old and I found that even then they were enough dissimilar that I was not attracted to Mike nor would I have been had I met him first. I certainly liked Mike immediately (and do still) but my heart connected to the person Mark had evolved into for many reasons. I still often wonder what it is like to have a mirror image in this world....a shared connection very few of us can really understand. Mike recently posted a picture of himself with only the lower part of his face showing and it was very eerie to me because it was so like Mark. And there are times like when they smile with just the same one side of the mouth upturned that it really is identical. And their voices are so very similar that on the phone I'd be hard pressed to say which one I am talking to. Yes, they look more individual today than how they started out above due to the lives they lived apart but they have experienced something in their "twinhood" that most of us never will.

Bathtime for Dylan

Dylan has decided that baths aren't so bad after all.
He still looks a little worried but it's better than
crying!

It's in the ears

The only thing I'm really sure about in comparing Dylan to his Mom is the ears..........they are definately hers! The eyes are similar too but it's just to early to tell yet. He can't go wrong with either parents eyes though as they both have great eyes! I think he's going to be a great combination of both of them.

Traditions

One year when I was home for my father's heart attack/bypass I was feeling bad that I wouldn't be there for Xmas and told my Dad so when I visited him in the hospital. It was just he and I there at the time. He told me "Mary, you must start your own traditions" and
then further he said "we aren't going to always be here". He was right. So from then on we four Wild's made it our tradition to fondue on Xmas eve. Shrimp, scallops and filet. It was a good way to have the kids stay at the table for longer than 5 minutes and it was quite the novelty for them as well. We still do it to this day and enjoy the company we happen to have at any given Xmas. The first Xmas Lindsay and Dave had their own home Dave gave Lin a fondue set. I hope when they can they continue this with their own children as well and Matt too when his time comes. Traditions.............they are a good thing!

Snow for Christmas

These are for Lindsay.........daughter of my heart. She actually misses the snow so here are a few shots from my morning walk showing you just how much we've been getting lately. More due in today as well. It will definately be a white Christmas in Michigan this year.
Can't wait for a few years when Dylan comes here for the holidays. We will introduce him to sledding! We may even get him some snow shoes to trek around the golf course on.
